On our Columbia and Snake River cruises, we travel through the region as early explorers, settlers, and natives did—by the waterways that stretch far inland from the Pacific Ocean. Our intimate, 62-guest expedition ship will enable you to:
- Sail in the wake of Lewis & Clark and their legendary Corps of Discovery expedition
- Taste the bounty of the region through their harvests and fresh, local, and delectable cuisine
- Experience the region on up close, water level expedition landing craft and kayak forays
- Transit a series of eight locks that lift the ship 700 feet, 10 times the elevation of the Panama Canal

The powerful Columbia and Snake Rivers flow through a beautiful land and offer access to fantastic wineries, places to kayak, bike or hike, and extraordinary scenery—you’ll experience it all. Hike to a towering waterfall. Taste local fruit at a family farm and enjoy views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. Visit sites used by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark while they made their way to the Pacific Coast.
Every day is engaging and options abound
You’ll be offered guided tours of museums, a farm, and a winery. You’ll walk, hike, bike, kayak, or expedition landing craft cruise—most days off-the-ship outings will be offered. Bike ride or walk along a historic route. Or, if you’d prefer to take an afternoon off, you’re welcome to grab a good book and relax on our ship’s sundeck.

About National Geographic Quest
National Geographic Quest was purpose-built to explore the fast-moving channels and narrow straits of Alaska, along the coast of Costa Rica, and into the gray whale nursery lagoons of Baja, her design and engineering informed by our nearly 40 years of experience in these regions. Her twin boarding platforms, for example, were suggested by a veteran staffer. Enabling our team to load two Zodiacs at once means guests get off the ship quickly to take advantage of wildlife sightings and maximize exploring time.
Larger than her siblings Sea Bird and Sea Lion, Quest has the same shallow draft, allowing her captain to navigate the same inner reaches and provide the same intimate, "insider" experiences in these charismatic regions. Modern cleaned-lined, with large expanses of glass to keep you connected to the extraordinary views, National Geographic Quest enables you to see, do, and experience the best of her geographies.

Airfare: For all programs, airfare is an additional cost unless otherwise indicated. Sample airfares are based on 2007 fares and are subject to change. We will gladly assist in making your air arrangements.
